USA Elite Select National Tournament

AP Walling is super excited to head to Melbourne Florida for this elite event.  This tournament selects only 48 teams considered to be among the best in our country and we can’t wait to represent the Atlanta Premier Organization well.  #APProud

PGF St. Patrick’s Day Champions!!!

The AP Walling ladies took the fields and the trophy in their Spring season opening tournament.  It was a great day to go 5-0!!  Among the day’s accomplishments were a total of 27 runs (3 homers) and Payton Shells receiving the tournament MVP!!

Closing out April On Top

What a incredible weekend for AP Walling at the USA JO Series. This team has found it’s stride. Going 5-0 for the weekend.  These ladies scored 55 runs giving up only 9, had 5 home runs, fabulous pitching with a 1.87 ERA and all of this after a 32 day break from AP play.

AP Walling:  A talented group with something to prove…

Traveling to an entirely different continent, Ron Walling and his international AP Team took the fields offering proof positive – softball and the love of this amazing game are, without doubt, a universal language.
These ladies certainly removed all doubt. This talented group represented not only the AP Organization but also the USA and the state of Georgia so very well.  Their smiles told a story of excitement but their on-field performance made it clear that this was no ordinary group; the athletes had arrived, serious competitors, and prepared to get down to business. Facing world-class talent, clear across the globe, some might have been intimidated, but Atlanta Premier International Walling faced each game with intensity and determination.  They were a force to be reckoned with – they WOULD NOT and DID NOT give up!!  They were a tough team, in every game all the way.
Off the field, they took in every moment and thrived with each opportunity.  Friends and once in a lifetime memories are definitely among the treasures accompanying them as they once again cross the oceans, this time returning to “the home of the brave.”

Embracing the Experience

Coach Ron Walling and his AP group are bringing new meaning to #APProud.  They have literally traveled across the world to play the game that they love; but, they’ve represented the AP organization and one of America’s favorite past times with determination, dedication, and distinction.  These athletes and their families definitely came to work but they’ve also taken the time to soak in a few sites and learn the culture of the hosting country.  Truly, this trip and these ladies are a wonderful example of finding common ground and coming together for love of the sport.

AP Walling goes International

AP Walling has completed their fall season and it wasn’t just any fall season; this fall not only were we the Atlanta Premier but also we were the International Premier.  What a blessing it was to have members of the Chinese Taipei team with us as we embarked on a schedule that included tournament and showcase play.  In addition to sharing the various Georgia fields with these awesome athletes, relationships were built with an excitement for the adventure to come.  AP Walling is thrilled to take this year’s 18U team to a new continent of competition joining our Taipei teammates once again in the game of softball.  However, this February it will not be a game played on the various Georgia fields – we will be in their neck of the woods.  What an honor it is to have the opportunity to host and visit the Chinese Taipei National team; The fact that it all happened around the game that we love, is an extra bonus!!

Kaitlyn Smith 2017 AP Walling Alumni

Alumni Feature

Kaitlyn Smith ~ Maryville University ~ 2017 AP Alumni

A freshman pitcher from Loganville, Georgia, Smith becomes the first Maryville softball player to earn USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Year accolades. She has posted an 11-1 record in 17 appearances, 13 starts, over 81.0 innings. She has compiled a 2.51 ERA with 74 strikeouts as opponents are hitting .248 against her.

“She stepped up,” Kelley said. “We asked a lot from her as a freshman, and for her to come in and step up on the mound and get that done for us, that’s huge. She pitched a lot for us. To have an experienced staff like we did, and for her to get so many innings, that’s awesome. To not only get those innings but succeed in those innings, she’s on par to have a great career here at Maryville College. We talk about it all the time about stepping up in conference games – those are the games that truly matter. You can see a different presence from her during conference games. She brought a different element, and it shows in her stats.”

In USA South-only action, her ERA dipped to a 0.54 as she posted a 6-0 record with 35 strikeouts and six shutouts in six starts. For her efforts this season, Smith collected First Team All-Conference and First Team West Division honors as a pitcher as well as one USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Week accolade.

Get to know Kris Odum

#21 Kris Odum

Team Captain

Right-Handed Pitcher, 2B, OF, Slapper Class of 2019

COMMITTED:  Columbus State University

I am excited to be a part of the East Coweta High School class of  2019 and a member of the Lady Indians 36-0 State and Nationals Champions 2018.  It’s hard to believe that my high school journey is coming to a close.  I am thankful for the many lessons that I have learned, academic as well as life; it has helped to develop my determination and work ethic.  I work hard, strive for excellence in all things, and do not shy away from a challenge.

Academically, I maintain a 4.0 GPA, am working to master fluency of the Spanish language, and carry a full course load including dual enrollment classes; these are tools that I believe will help me achieve my “post high school” goal of earning a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science/Biology and ultimately becoming a surgeon.

Athletically, I am a part of the East Coweta Lady Indians softball, swim, and lacrosse programs. I have trained hard to be a well-rounded, team player.  I enjoy competing at the highest levels and among high caliber athletes, a tradition I am looking forward to continuing throughout my collegiate journey.  My softball game experience includes time on the mound as a natural right-handed pitcher, the outfield positions, and second base – serving wherever I am needed for the benefit of the team.  Behind the plate, I am a left-handed power hitter and slapper; in the base path, I am both speedy and aggressive.

Outside of a busy schedule, I enjoy spending time with my family, my friends, and my animals. I appreciate these relationships and our time together; it is what keeps me not only grounded but also encouraged.

Team Captain Kris Odum shows her true athleticism taking the game of La Cross by storm with East Cowetta.
